Imaginative stonework is part artistry, part mathematics and part physical labor. For Gabriel Dark, founder of Darkstone LLC, it was an unexpected calling. After graduating from college with a degree in graphic design, a talent for photography, and an itch to travel, he took time to see the world. When he returned to the U.S., Gabriel fell into a job as a stone mason and a passion was born. Gabriel honed his skills creating unique stonework while working for a landscaping firm on high-end projects. In 2005, he co-founded Darkstone LLC.
Today, Gabriel is the sole owner of Darkstone. Under his leadership, the business recently relocated to Deerfield, Massachusetts, where space is available for a small stoneyard. After many years serving homeowners in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, Darkstone has shifted west to focus on services for clients in western Massachusetts, southwestern New Hampshire and southern Vermont.
Gabriel Dark is a certified dry stone waller through The Stone Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving and advancing the art and craft of dry stone walling. The Stone Trust is the only organization in North America that provides Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA) certification. Gabriel has spent time in England learning the craft and artistry of stone work from those who know it best. See more at Gabriel's website.
