Bob Compton’s work reflects his commitment to helping bring the tradition of forging iron into the 21st century. He is known throughout the northeast for the excellence of his craftsmanship. He started forging professionally in 1983, operating his studio, Rising Sun Forge since 1987.
Since then, Compton has sought to create work that not only fulfills its basic function but also enhances and integrates well with the overall design scheme of those he works with. In addition to traditional wrought ironwork he has studied a wide variety of design styles including Japanese, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, as well as individual styles such as Greene and Greene,Frank Lloyd Wright, and Charles Rennie McIntosh.
